The Twelve: Four Ways to Enjoy Your Three Day Weekend.

The Twelve: Four Ways to Enjoy Your Three Day Weekend.

A special edition of The Twelve.

Labor Day is all about celebrating American workers and their contributions towards innovation and the American economy. Today it’s a sign of the end of summer and white pants, and the start of school. For our international friends, it’s spent grilling, outside, or attending parades. Since Labor Day is observed with rest and relaxation, we’re spending our weekend with friends and family. So, here are four ways to spend your three day weekend from Twelve South.

What we’re doing:
This weekend, if weather permits: go outside! Don’t forget your sunscreen. Although it’s been a long summer, when it’s cold we’ll be kicking ourselves for not catching enough rays. We’re insanely lucky to our headquarters in Charleston South Carolina. So, we are making the most out of living in the Lowcountry, and we’re going: to the beach, sailing, on a road trip to hike, and of course to walk Downtown Charleston.

What we’re drinking:
Twelve South Charleston South Carolina To celebrate the holiday weekend, the end of summer, and the successful refresh of BassJump, we’re making Arnold Palmers. Here’s the recipe we’re using. Make a pitcher of your favorite recipe (or mix) and if you’re not imbibing, you’re finished! If you are, add the appropriate amount of Bourbon. We’re using Firefly Distillery’s Sweet Tea Vodka to give it a more local spin. Enjoy!

Here’s what we’re listening to:
Since this was posted on September 4th, also known as #BeyDay, Beyonce’s birthday, here’s some of the Queen B we’re listening to in the office today. But, besides Yoncé, here’s some of what we’ve been listening to, in an Apple Music playlist. It’s best enjoyed on shuffle.

How we’re keeping busy:
Has your local meteorologist forecasted rain? Since Labor day is generally when hurricane season starts to pick up, here are some rainy day options:

We’re reading Harper Lee’s “Go Set a Watchman” and “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing” by Marie Kondo. But now that we’ve seen the Reissue of the 1975 NASA Graphic Standards Manual, there’s not much else we can think about.

Jurassic World has taken the summer box office by storm. To celebrate the end of summer, go see it in IMAX. The big bad dinosaur even bigger? Sign us up. Or, if you’re a fan of sports, we’re diving into autumn with College Football. We’re rooting for the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Arizona State University Sun Devils, and Mississippi State. (Ohio State and Clemson are playing too.)
